Jurisdiction: Auckland Council
Application detail: 2038 Great South Rd, private plan change 36, application by Atlas Concrete Ltd to rezone 3.55ha site from rural to motorway & rural service special zone, across the motorway from the BP service area and south of the Caltex truck stop & weigh station
Notification date: 18 September
Submission closure date: Tuesday 16 October
Other details: The site is motorway severance land and is essentially an island isolated from other land by Great South & Mill Rds and the Southern Motorway. On that basis, the application says the site’s strategic location & unique characteristics make it no longer suitable for primary production, and rezoning would enable a more sustainable & efficient use.
The plan change would enable the establishment of either motorway service activities (consisting of a service station & a maximum of 1500m² of café & restaurant activity) on the northern portion of the site (identified as area A on the concept plan) or rural industry & services. Only rural industry & service would be allowed on the southern portion of the site (area B). Want to comment? Go to the forum.
