Architecture firm Ignite has opened an online survey for the pubic to vote for the best & worst buildings in Auckland. It’s selected 30 buildings based on their prominence & ease of recognition.
Voters select buildings by clicking on a photo of the building. They can enlarge the photos by clicking on them and can add comments about the buildings.
Once votes have been submitted, a percentage will be displayed showing how the chosen buildings are tracking within the total number of votes. Final results will be published in early May.
Among the buildings listed are the Auckland War Memorial Museum, Sky Tower and the tank farm. Civic, commercial & historic buildings have been included in the survey.
Ignite Architects commissioned the survey find out what the public really think about Auckland’s landscape and open discussion about issues relating to the development of the city. “This includes the preservation of our historic buildings, development of public spaces and the proliferation of high-density apartments.”
