Fletcher Building Ltd and the Auckland University Business School have won a silver award in the executive development category of the European Foundation for Management Development excellence in practice awards for their Leaders’ Edge programme.
Fletcher Building corporate services chief executive Kate Daly said Leaders’ Edge was developed to support the transformational change programme underway at the group. It was intended to enhance leaders’ ability to create a winning culture through periods of uncertainty: “Leaders must be able to make bold & commercially astute decisions in ambiguous environments, and Leaders’ Edge was designed to make navigating dilemmas easier.”
The programme relied on best-in-class resources from the university’s faculty members, expert mentors & executive coaches, and direct access to leaders of the most successful export businesses in the country.
Ms Daly said winning the award was an amazing achievement, “given that these awards recognise the best global leadership development programmes, with most of the global top tier executive education programmes submitting entries.”
Leadership teams on the intensive 8-month course learned about customer, strategy, change & how to be authentic leaders. “Fletcher Building’s divisional chief executives sponsored, endorsed & mentored the teams through the development & execution of strategic business initiatives, which have delivered tangible & impressive returns on investment for Fletcher Building.”
