The mayors of Auckland & Manukau cities, John Banks & Sir Barry Curtis, will host a media conference on Wednesday 25 August at noon, after Opus International Consultants has presented its modified proposal for the eastern corridor to the Eastern Transport Corridor Steering Group.
The 2 mayors said in a press release today computerised images of what the downscaled corridor would look like, particularly across Hobson Bay, would be revealed.
They will also talk about what downscaling means in terms of cost, providing certainty, property acquisition, transport benefits, vehicles use, & how construction could be staged & funded.
At the last of these little get-togethers, Mr Banks refused to take a question from Christine Fletcher, his predecessor & once more opponent for the Auckland mayoralty, who has a role at a television outlet.
Mrs Fletcher did get an answer, however, from the Auckland council’s transport committee chairman, Cllr Greg McKeown, who also chairs the steering group.
