Port of Tauranga Ltd has signed a conditional agreement with the Selwyn District Council to buy 15ha in the Izone industrial park at Rolleston for development as an intermodal freight hub. Izone, a 180ha industrial park 12km south of Christchurch, was established to cater for manufacturing, warehousing & logistics businesses.
Port of Tauranga is planning to establish an intermodal freight hub to receive, pack & distribute containerised cargo.
Port of Tauranga recently acquired a 50% shareholding in PrimePort Timaru and operates its container terminal.
Selwyn District Council owns Izone and Hughes Developments Ltd manages it.
