At the Upper Harbour Local Board community forum on Thursday, Albany Estate Ltd (Duoyu Bei, of Bei Group Ltd & Rong Holdings Ltd) will outline its plans for the development of 257 apartments, 197 houses & a retirement village to be built in stages at 473 Albany Highway.
The residential proposal would replace Massey University’s 13.56ha Oteha Rohe precinct, which the university will vacate in 2 stages, starting at the end of this year.
The company has lodged applications for an integrated resource consent and for the retirement village. The apartments will be in 6 3-storey buildings.
The company’s vision is for a walkable neighbourhood. Albany Estate has also made provision for future commercial activities, including a neighbourhood shopping centre.
When the university mapped out its plans for development 4 years ago, it envisaged developing 100-150,000m² more building on its east & west precincts over the next 20-40 years, and sought expressions of interest for the Oteha land.
