The second-floor apartment in a 4-level block of full-floor units above a parking podium in Victoria Avenue, Remuera, was passed in at auction today at $1.85 million.
The auction came 6 days after Auckland Council voted at a rowdy Town Hall meeting to abandon submissions to the independent unitary plan panel in support of out-of-scope rezoning which would give the green light to 3-storey apartment buildings in the single house zone on the isthmus.
At about $8-8500/m² of internal space (excluding parking), the top bid would make the unit in Auckland’s top suburb cheap compared to the pricing of new stock under construction in the cbd and conversions on its western fringe.
